During the 24th Square Culture and Art Festival in Linyi’s Hedong District, Longteng held a series of intangible cultural heritage display and performance activities, inviting the public to get closer looks at the local cultural heritage, and to understand its charm in China’s long tradition.
The “Intangible Cultural Heritage Fair” attracted many locals. The experience area, the food stands, and the traditional product exhibition area… all showcasing the charm of the local intangible cultural heritage. “I hope that all citizens will participate and learn how our paper-cutting has been carried forward for centuries.” Ms Li Ling, an inheritor of Langya paper-cutting silhouette in the province, introduced.
As a region with a long history, Linyi City is extremely rich in intangible cultural heritage. At the Festival market, there are national, provincial, municipal and district-leveled intangible cultural heritage projects on display. Visitors can get hand-on experience on the traditional skills such as paper-cut silhouettes, colorful print-cloth, and flower-folding.
“Seeing so many intangible cultural heritage projects with Linyi characteristics, and so many superb handmade exquisite products, I feel enchanted and have also benefited a lot from them. Now my dream is to find a teacher to learn how to handmake the beautiful objects. By doing so, I believe I can also vigorously promote our cultural heritage!” Ms Jin Ying, a local, told the reporters.
