Linyi Hedong District Successfully Promoting Rural Revitalization 

 

Zhengwang Town belongs to Linyi Hedong District. There, the Xiaoxihe family farm planted more than a hundred acres of “sunlight rose” grapes. Gradually entered the mature period, the smaragd-like grapes are shiny under the sunlight in bunches. Zhao Yun, the person in charge of the farm, said that her vineyard produces more than 3,000 kilograms of grapes per Mu （1 Mu = 666 square meters）. The high-quality grapes enjoy 18 Brix and are grown with organic fertilizer.

Hedong District has been promoting rural revitalization in recent years, adopting the policy of “cooperative units + leading enterprises + production bases + farmer families”. A number of businesses such as planting seedlings and flowers, growing fruits and vegetables are effectively increasing the income of the local inhabitants. Taking Zhengwang Town as an example, 28 projects have been put into operation, including Guojiawan rose planting, Liuguanzhuang beef cattle breeding, Shiwangya pet dog breeding, and Changwang quail breeding.

In Bahu Town, which is not far away from Zhengwang Town, white lotus roots are being harvested, greatly increasing the income of locals. The local government cooperates with the key sales enterprises. “Bahu Lotus” products, obtaining the “National Geographic Mark Product”, are sold at very good prices. For example, the Jiuzhou Supermarket purchases about 750 kilograms of “Bahu Lotus” products every day, and completes the loading at around 9 o’clock. And we’ll carry the rest to the country market to sell. One truck can hold about 350 kilograms,” Lin Qingru, a leader from Douling Village, said in joy.

To effectively promote the rural revitalization, Hedong District organizes agricultural experts to visit the fields in order to help farmers solve technical problems and practical difficulties. The agricultural and machinery service department in the district gives advice for better agricultural facilities and standardized green-branding, which improves the agricultural efficiency and competitiveness, as well as expands the income channels.
