Hedong District in Linyi: A Stringing View of Parks and Green Zones 

To enhance the leisure life of the citizens, Hedong District in Linyi has been focusing on making the empty space into greening zones. The construction of mini parks and green spaces have been steadily promoted. With “Quality Hedong” in mind, the city government is presenting a variety of the so-called “pocket parks” throughout the urban area. These mini parks connect urban attractions, community life, business circle, medical facilities, and academic institutions with one another, forming a stringlike green view of the district. 

Walking along the streets in Hedong, one encounters nature around every corner of this district. The overall framework of “one axis and two wings” highlights the district’s “four key points” and “three in one” park construction style. The greening spaces under the blue sky are gradually covering the booming urban area.

The concept of green is used to solve traffic congestion, to promote culture, and to increase life value. “We will better the management to maintain good standards of our beautiful parks and green spaces. All this aims at making the locals’ life happier and richer.” During his interview, Zhao Jianmin, head of the Park Management Section of the Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau of Hedong District, said that they will put more efforts on building a green ecological foundation to improve the standard of park construction, shaping the green district into a more beautiful form. 

An example of this ambition is the Beijing Road Park. The Park adheres to a unique design and environmental protection concept while serving as a green ecological corridor embedded in the context of a bustling city. Hedong District believes that build by its people, the city is built for the sake of the people. Its “pocket parks” are obviously offering the residents “poetry and distance” in the daily life.
