
The Golden July Music Festival Vienna, starting in 2019, has become one of the largest music festivals in Vienna, combining concerts and summer academies. The Festival continues the tradition of German and Austrian music while promoting the dissemination of early music, modern music, jazz and folk music, thus enhancing Vienna’s unique image as the world’s music capital. New stars are shaped here every day as shiny as gold on the way to the success at the international stage.
This summer, the Golden July Music Festival Vienna will be arranging, together with Articulus Opera, a concert belonging to the opening program of Salzburger Festspiele. The Festival is cooperating with the 30-year-old Johannes Brahms International Music Competition, too, offering the winners of the competition the opportunity to perform on the stage of the Festival.

Anticipated as part of the Golden July Music Festival Vienna in the near future, are related disciplines such as visual art, literature and fashion, which will enable the Vienna Golden July Music Festival to enjoy more diversity and colorfulness.



Musicians and Orchestras:
World-class musicians and high-level orchestras have been invited to perform at the Golden July Music Festival Vienna, including KS Grace Bumbry – legendary American black female singer (died in 2023); Helmut Deutsch – pianist of Jonas Kaufmann and Diana Damra; Ivo Pogorelich – legendary pianist; Jura Margulis – son of famous educator and pianist Vitaly Margulis; Eric Guo – winner of the 2023 Chopin Early Piano Competition Gold Medal; Simply Quartet – New String Quartet, one of the most successful string quartets of the new generation; Florian Stoertz – young baritone singer, winner of gold medals in many international vocal competitions; Rafael Salas – artistic director and pianist of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna People’s Opera; Adonis Gonzalez – Grammy album nominated pianist, improviser; and Nova Orchestra Vienna – Vienna New Orchestra.


Other musicians who will be invited to the Festival include:
Joyce DiDonato, Alban Berg Ensemble Wien, Robert Levin, Studio Dan, Full Crimp, etc.

The concerts of the Golden July Music Festival Vienna are held in world-famous concert halls such as Musikverein with its famous Golden Hall and the Glass Hall, the Royal Banquet Hall of Schönbrunn Palace, the Eroica Hall of the Austrian Theatre Museum, Grand Klimt Hall, Bösendorfer Salon, the Baroque Hall of the Old Town Hall, the Music Hall of the Schubert Academy of Music, and the Borromäus Music Hall, to name a few.

Summer Academy:
The Golden July Music Festival Vienna offers Summer Acadamy to continue the tradition of Vienna classical music, especially for the young musicians. The Vienna Golden July Music Festival sincerely invites you to Vienna and to visit MUK (Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna). There, you can experience the inspiring atmosphere and the rhythm of music left by the grand music masters like Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms.

MUK:
Founded by the city of Vienna in 1945, MUK attained its university status in accord with the international standards by the Austrian National Accreditation Administration in 2005. MUK has trained countless world-renowned and outstanding performing artists. Currently, its abundant well-reputed professors ensure every student there to receive the most meticulous professional training, cultivating the sophisticated music and art performing talents. Many professors and graduates from MUK work in world-renowned orchestras.

Program Highlight 2025:
This year’s opening concert will be held at Musikverein’s Goldenersaal on 21. July with Nova Orchester Wien conducted by William Garfield Walker, who is hailed as a “master of intense sound waves with a pioneering spirit”. The program includes the premiere of a music piece by the Lieven family which is famed for the International Piano Foundation Theo and Petra Lieven.
On 23. July, the Croatian piano legend Ivo Pogorelich will offer a solo concert with Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas and Bagatelles at MuTh. Mr. Pogorelich’s evocative interpretations, shaped by a cultivated musical taste, have broadened the horizon of understanding of piano literature. He had aroused enormous interest and appreciation at the Chopin Competition through his unconventional interpretations, astonishing technique and innovative way of performing.
24. July will see the Fortpiano Festival at Minoritenkirche starting early afternoon and lasting into late evening. On 25. July, there will be a concert with participants of different master classes. The final concert of the Festival will be held on 26. July at Musikverein’s Gläsernersaal.
As part of the Golden July Music Festival Vienna 2025, the Conducting Academy will open its door on 28. July and last until 3. August. During the period, there will be a Liederabend and a piano concert with contemporary music at Vienna’s Old Town Hall, respectively on 30. And 31. July. A Jazz concert will be held at Porgy & Bess on 1. August, followed by the Graduation Concert on 3. August at Musikverein’s Gläsernersaal.
Throughout the whole Festival, master classes are offered every day covering piano, vocal, conducting, modern music and more.
